But we're using a lot of machinery. >> We're not a big company. We're privateers. We pay all the bills. We pay the breakdowns. You blow a motor up in in that Western Star over there, you're probably looking at 30 grand to rebuild the motor. So, there's pressure there. There's pressure all the time. >> Uh so, what we want, Luca, is um this hose to sort of loop around with this one. >> Kids have made a decision to value-add to the business, and if something were to go wrong, we'd lose 5 years worth of work and, you know, everything we put in. Pressure on the kids. As the business grows, they they sort of get pulled in two directions. >> Not only are we working here to, you know, find the opal, we're also um working in Sydney. Oscar's got an office there. He's working hard all the time. >> At the moment, we're just moving some dirt over to start on some fresh ground. It's very exciting. It's been a long summer away from it all, and yeah, we're all eager to jump straight back into it and find some opals. Um it's still fairly warm out here, but it is cooling up for us to start. The gear can handle us. We've all got skin in the game now. You know, obviously we want to do Dad proud, but this is our livelihood now as well. Black patch on that bit? Yeah, there's all black patch all through there. Hopefully there'll be somewhere along there where the color meets it, and that's where we make the big dollars. >> 95% of the world's precious opal is buried in the Australian Outback. At Turner's Rush claim, the Chills are excavating tons of rock to process at their wash plant. >> This is our agitator, called the wash plant. This washes the clay away from the opal. So, you know, that comes up the conveyor here, into the barrel, and wears away, wears all the dirt away from around the opal. Washing it is our biggest bottleneck, and um it's really holding us up. The more agitators we got, the more opal we're going to find. It was all dirty and rusty, and so we had to use the scanner. Plug some concrete out that's that's been in there for years. You want a good clean surface. You want good ventilation and a dust mask. You know, you want to extract that dust out. You don't want it filling your lungs. It'll cost you later on in life. I think it's a good fit for the business. >> Trying to balance doing that, helping out the family business. It can get a bit much sometimes. [music] No reception, no Wi-Fi.
